Tour de Yorkshire 2018

On Thursday 3rd May 2018 we will have the opportunity to see the men’s race here at Tickton.  The opening ceremony will take place in Beverley town centre and then the men will race towards us as they head to Hornsea, go around the mere and then return via the A165 and back past Tickton and Routh on A1035 before heading off through Beverley and up into North Yorkshire.  What an opportunity!

Each year communities from towns and villages across Yorkshire hang bunting, paint bikes, create flowerbeds, throw street parties and decorate windows to showcase Yorkshire to the rest of the world.  In addition Welcome to Yorkshire has launched its Tour de Yorkshire land art competition.  Whether it’s a church spire that is draped in a blue jersey, a field displaying a mammoth bicycle or a market place spelling out a message of support, all entries are welcome.

Places are still available at the Tour de Yorkshire roadshows for business and community representatives in Howden, Pocklington and Hornsea to find out more about what they can do to make the most of the 2018 Tour de Yorkshire.

Hosted by Welcome to Yorkshire and East Riding of Yorkshire Council, the free roadshows will take place at the Shire Hall in Howden on Wednesday, 7 February, from 7.15-9.30pm, Hornsea Freeport on Tuesday, 13 February, from 2-4.30pm, and The KP Club, Pocklington, on Thursday, 15 February, from 2-4.30pm.

The sessions will include a short presentation, including detailed information about the route, as well as advice around brand guidelines and how businesses and communities can make the most of the opportunity. There will also be a Q&A opportunity with representatives from Welcome to Yorkshire and East Riding of Yorkshire Council.

Those wishing to attend the business and community roadshows will need to register by visiting, searching for ‘Tour de Yorkshire’ and clicking on the roadshow event nearest to them.
