COVID-19: Latest Information

The Community Response in the East Riding of Yorkshire to the Coronavirus

(COVID-19) Pandemic – Update

The East Riding Community Response Hub continues to work in partnership with the HEY Smile Foundation.  East Riding of Yorkshire Council is very proud of what has been possible to do in setting up these arrangements in such a short amount of time.

At close of business on 13 May, the 01482 393919 Community Hub number had taken 8,050 calls generating 5,055 tasks that have needed to be carried out. In addition, the team recently started making outbound calls to residents who we had reason to believe might benefit from the services offered by the Community Response Hub.  So far 7,810 such calls have been made and people have often been very appreciative of a call and many tasks have been generated from these calls.

East Riding of Yorkshire Council has made a short video telling the story of the Community Response Hub – You will find it here – https://youtu.be/C9lt8VOv2Qs .  The team has also made an online storybook to accompany the video – you will find that here – http://online.fliphtml5.com/cuhwv/wykc/

We hope you enjoy watching these videos.

IF YOU NEED ASSISTANCE

A dedicated contact centre specifically for residents who don’t have that network of carers, family, friends, neighbours or local community groups to call upon is now up and running.

CONTACT CENTRE DETAILS:
9am-9pm Monday-Friday
9am-6pm Saturday and Sunday
Tel: (01482) 393919
Email: covid@eastriding.gov.uk

This contact centre is not for emergencies or for those vulnerable residents who are registered within the ERYC adult care system. The people we want to help through this service are those who may be in self-isolation and need medicines or essential food collecting, pets that need walking or are maybe feeling lonely and would like to be able to chat with someone.

If you need to be signposted for any additional support, please contact Tickton & Routh Parish Council: https://www.ticktonandrouth.org.uk/ 07563 155095 / Email: info@ticktonandrouth.org.uk

HOW CAN GROUPS HELP?

Community Groups & Voluntary Groups
We encourage any community or voluntary groups, along with those groups set up on social media channels, to register their details on https://coronavirus.beecan.org/. This website is hosted by the HEY Smile Foundation and the aim is to build up a detailed database of organisations that can work alongside HEY Smile Foundation and build resilience when helping those in need. Many groups have registered already, but the more the better. Guidance on how to register can be found in this video – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q2Xy2Yd0TFs&feature=youtu.be .

HOW CAN INDIVIDUALS HELP?

Individuals
Individuals cannot register on the beecan.org website but we encourage people to register at https://www.goodsamapp.org/NHS to become one of the new NHS Volunteer Responders. These volunteer responders will carry out tasks such as delivering medicines from pharmacies, driving patients to appointments, bringing people home from hospital and making regular telephone calls to check on people isolating at home.

COMMUNITY HUBS

Community Hubs are being set up in locations across the East Riding, in Anlaby, Beverley, Bridlington, Driffield, Goole, Holme-on-Spalding-Moor, Hornsea, Pocklington and Withernsea. These are not open to the public but are a place where volunteers can co-ordinate their help and support for the surrounding area.
